World No Tobacco Day 2020

31st May is celebrated as World No Tobacco Day. This day is celebrated to spread awareness among people about the health dangers of tobacco. It also informs about the steps that the World Health Organization(WHO) is taking to control and tackle the tobacco epidemic and its health hazards along with tobacco companies’ business practices. The main aim to observe this day is to make the public understand the ill-effects of tobacco on health and wellness. WHO constantly works in all regions to inform and educate people about their rights to good health and how they can fight the tobacco epidemic by taking necessary precautions and secure the future of their next generations.

World No Tobacco Day was created in the year 1987 by the member states of the World Health Organization. It was created with a vision to eradicate tobacco-related illnesses and prevent the deaths caused by tobacco consumption. This day, every year, the health organizations around the world spread awareness about the negative aspects of tobacco consumption. Surprisingly, more than 8 million people die every year due to tobacco which is alarming. World No Tobacco Day, thus, helps people quit tobacco and start a healthy life.
